OPENAI HIRES FORMER U.S. 🇺🇸 ARMY SECRETARY DAN DRISCOLL FOR NATIONAL SECURITY ROLE: FT OpenAI has hired Dan Driscoll as senior counselor for national security modernization, a newly created role focused on expanding AI adoption across U.S. and allied defense and security institutions. Driscoll, an Iraq War veteran and close friend of Vice President JD Vance, previously led efforts at the Pentagon to accelerate military technology adoption before resigning amid tensions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. OpenAI says he will help its teams understand the operational needs of national security institutions and work with governments to modernize how AI is deployed. The appointment comes as OpenAI expands its defense business, including a recent agreement to deploy its AI models in classified Pentagon environments following the breakdown of negotiations between the military and Anthropic.
